Water restrictions go into effect Dec. 1
ST. PETERSBURG — Due to the current drought conditions, the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) has issued a modified Phase I Water Shortage Order that includes the City of St. Petersburg. The order goes into effect on Dec. 1.
This order comes after significantly below-normal rainfall, reduced river levels and increasing water supply concerns. To help conserve water, the city is shifting to a temporary watering restriction to once a week.
This restriction applies to properties watering with potable (city) water, water from private wells, or private connections to surface water sources (lakes, ponds, etc.). Additionally, residents should adjust their irrigation timer to ensure the settings are correct, as Restriction Enforcement Activities will continue to be enhanced.
The schedule of watering will include the property address as follows:
Potable (city) water and private well or surface water:
Even addresses: Water on Saturday only
Odd address: Water on Sunday only
Reclaimed water:
Even addresses: Practice voluntary restrictions and water on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday only
Odd addresses: Practice voluntary restrictions and water on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday only
Residents not receiving water from the city should verify their watering days and restrictions with their water supplier.
This order goes into effect on Dec. 1 and is expected to stand until July 1, 2024. Please ensure all water systems are properly set up and prepare for an adjusted watering schedule.
