Bethel celebrates 21 years with Pastor Sykes

ST. PETERSBURG — Bethel Community Baptist Church, 2901 54th Ave. S., celebrated Reverend Dr. Manuel Sykes’ 21st anniversary as shepherd leader last Sun., May 25. Sunday’s service culminated a month long celebration of services that began immediately after the anniversary banquet May 2.

Rev. Torin Dailey, pastor of First Baptist Church of Oakland in Tallahassee delivered the anniversary service message that was anchored in the book of Isaiah, Chapter 53:13-15. Prior to the message, the praise dance ministry gave a spiritually stirring performance followed by two selections by the Bethel Men’s Choir.

Minister Brent Brown honored Deacon James Myles and Flo Young with an award for their dedication for assistance and service to Faith and Strengthen Together (FAST). In particularly, Young has been volunteering with FAST for over 10 years. The Bethel congregation has had the biggest presence at recent FAST rallies.

As the Bethel Community Baptist Church successfully ends yet another milestone in service to God and community, the future appears even brighter as its vibrant youth position themselves to come into their own as future leaders.
