ST. PETERSBURG – The local Phi Beta Sigma, Inc. Alumni Chapter held its inaugural Blue Phi Barbeque at the Enoch Davis Community Center by drawing over 150 people Sat., May 16. The event was catered by Heavy D’s Food Truck.

In addition to some of the best soul food in town, the fraternity raffled off a 50 inch high definition television donated by Brother Kendrick Scott.

“He came out of his own pockets to donate the 50’ TV that was raffled away, and also donated $900 of his proceeds to the chapter,” said Chapter President Cedric A. Ferrell. Glenn Barney was the lucky winner of the television.

By the end of the event, the fraternity raised over $1,000.

“This signals only the beginning of what’s to come,” said Corey Givens, Jr. who is part of the recent line of new generation of Sigmas.

Ferrell expressed his gratitude to the fraternity brothers for making the event a success and looks forward to expanding the service organization with more young professional men to strengthen the brotherhood of Phi Beta Sigma.
