Born to Reign

REV. DORAL PULLEY, Today’s Church Tampa Bay

Until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords” (I Timothy 6:14).

Jesus, the Wayshower, is often referred to as the King of kings. Every king has a kingdom. Kingdom is a compound word that comes from the words, king, and domain. The Kingdom is the king’s domain. It is the place where the king reigns. Jesus, our example of what it means to be fully human and fully divine, realized that his kingdom was a spiritual kingdom and that he was called to reign in the area of spirituality (John 18:36).  You are royalty and God has given you dominion. You may not be called to have dominion in the same area as Jesus; however, there are many areas over which you can reign.

In 1975, Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade and Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth with A Mission, developed a model to change the earth by helping people identify which of the seven spheres of influence they were called to impact. I enhanced their model to include the following seven primary areas of dominion:

  1. Spirituality
  2. Education
  3. Government
  4. Media & Communication
  5. Arts & Entertainment
  6. Business
  7. Science & Technology

God is calling you to reign in at least one of these areas.  You can create dominion over your life and your unique area of domain through your thoughts, words, and actions. During this Christmas season, let’s follow the example of him who was “born the king of angels.”
