Growth is not always comfortable but it is necessary for us to be our best selves and to live our best lives. Sometimes holistic growth and development is challenging.
Every situation that we experience in life can be an opportunity to grow if we choose to see it that way. Instead of looking at our current situation as a problem, we can view it as a challenge. Instead of seeing crisis, we can choose to see the opportunity to learn and grow.
One of the greatest ways that we grow is through relationships with others (partners, spouses, family, friends, neighbors, classmates, co-workers, etc.). The people in our lives highlight areas where growth has been attained. Sometimes we don’t know how much we have grown until we are presented with a challenge and we respond to it differently than we have in the past.
People in our lives are also God’s flashlights to show us areas of life where we need growth. Sometimes we think that we have overcome a particular obstacle until a new person presents it to us. If we react in the same old way, then we know that more growth is needed in that area.
Instead of wallowing in self-pity because a relationship did not unfold the way that you desired, see all the lessons and the blessings that the experience afforded you. When we have painful experiences or people appear to hurt us, it is important for us to process our emotions. After we deal with our feelings, let us move to the realization that it was just a growing pain.
