New life on the Deuces!

ST. PETERSBURG — The Deuces Live, Inc. continued with their revitalization efforts of 22nd Street South with the grand re-opening celebration of the Sunday Market last Sun., Oct. 5.

Local vendors showcased and sold their products including hats, shoes, jewelry, African soaps and oils, hot food, fresh vegetables and baked goods, while the soulful music from Relentless Groove, the live band performing in the background, created a fun community atmosphere.

There was also a ribbon cutting ceremony for PSTA’s Route 7, which will aid in efforts to bring potential consumers to the Deuces via public transit. PSTA provided educational materials about the Greenlight Pinellas initiative that will be on the ballot for vote on November 4.

Greenlight Pinellas will swap the current property tax with a one percent sales tax to increase funding for the transit authority.  Increased funding will allow the bus service to significantly improve and increase by approximately 65 percent, creating more jobs and better access to employment opportunities, education and healthcare.

The Deuces Live, Inc. has worked tirelessly to create a vibrant community that will attract businesses and consumers locally as well as preserve the history of this great community.  The event on Sunday proved they’re off to a great start.

Be sure to stop by the market next Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the corner of 22nd Street South and 9th Avenue so you can join in on the fun!
