The big, bad ghouls & goblins

BY ALLEN A. BUCHANAN, Staff Writer

ST. PETERSBURG — The Manhattan Casino was rockin’ around the clock this Halloween as the adult ghouls trotted out in their fiendish costumes to dance the night away to a nostalgic soundtrack.

Just as super heroes and favored animated animal characters was the theme for kiddies at Mt. Zion’s OktoberFest, the vamps, witches, warlocks and “Thriller” ghouls set the mood for a gory night of fun and frolic for “grown folks” at the Manhattan.

The Old School Halloween Party was hosted by Cherrye Baker and powered by the music of DJ BAKE. The come-one-come-all no-cover-charge invitation inspired people to come and pack the historic ballroom until midnight.

Although some of the guests looked like they had their fill of blood, guts and horror prior to coming to the Casino, that did not stop them from enjoying the variety of delicacies served by Sylvia’s Soul Food Restaurant on the ground floor.

Halloween 2015 was an evening of fun, food, family and friends on the south side of the “Burg!”
