I Love to Tell the Story! Part 2

Unity of Midtown, originally founded as Unity Temple of Truth Church, has a rich history in St. Petersburg.  In 1990, a few days before Christmas, founding minister, Rev. Catherine Brooks made her transition from abundant life to eternal life.

Rev. Davene Davis, a third-generation Unity minister, was elected as the church’s second minister from 1991-1993. She filled the pews with her exuberance and was an excellent fundraiser and event planner. The church’s third minister, Rev. Melvera Jean Hinton-Brown, was known for fun and fellowship and served the church from 1994-2001.

The church was without a minister for a few years and various Unity ministers and licensed Unity teachers gave the lessons while the Board of Trustees handled the business of the church.

The church elected its first male minister, Rev. Prentiss John Davis, in 2004 and he served the church for seven years. He was a great teacher and under his leadership, various members of the church traveled to Unity Village in Lee Summit, Missouri and attended several classes.

In August 2014, the church called its fifth minister, the Rev. Dr. Doral R. Pulley, from Baltimore, Maryland to Florida.  Under his pastorate, the church has experienced unprecedented spiritual, numerical, financial and physical growth and its theme is Let’s GROW Together! The church requests all former members who have stories about the church’s history from 1990-2014 to come and share their testimonials on Thursday, November 10 at 6:30 pm for the Church’s 59th Anniversary Celebration.
