The favor of God

BY PASTOR KISHA JORDAN

According to the word of God, we are God’s children and heirs of the kingdom. It is a kingdom of greatness and power that God has made available to His children both now and forever.

Dear reader, if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you have access to the power that flows from the kingdom of God and are entitled to an endless list of extraordinary benefits.

For example, you are set free from the power of sin and death, you have been given the gift of eternal life, and in this life nothing will be able to separate you from the love of God. If God does not do anything else for you and I, these benefits would be more than enough.

But, there is another benefit that I would like to draw your attention to – “The Favor of God.” Favor means to give special regard to or to display exceptional kindness to another. Said biblically, it means for God to give you preferential treatment or special benefits.

These benefits from God are yours regardless of the situations you might find yourself in. You may be rejoicing on the mountaintop or weeping down in the valley.

The truth of the matter is God’s favor is yours. Remember, you are a child of the King. I realize that in this world, we will experience pain and suffering for the cause of Christ; but Got has promised that we will share in His glory (Romans 8:17). Now that is good news.

We see this demonstrated in the life of Joseph in Genesis 37-50. Joseph was a child of the King and destined for greatness.  The scripture indicate that when Joseph shared his God given dreams about his future with his brothers, that instead of rejoicing with him, “…they hated him even the more” (Genesis 37:5). Because of their hatred Joseph had to endure being mistreated, rejected, isolated, and jailed. But, I am here to tell you that the pain and suffering that others have caused you to endure will not stop the blessings and favor that God has ordained for your life. The bible tells us in Numbers 23:20 what God has blessed cannot be reversed. You are blessed and God’s favor is yours. Don’t fight it, don’t deny it, walk in it!

By the word of God I declare to you today, that you will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:7-8). People who trust in the Lord are blessed and highly favored. I encourage you to receive God’s favor for your life. After all, favor is not fair; but is does feel good. Let the church say “AMEN!”
