ST. PETERSBURG — Campbell Park Elementary School is pleased to announce the 2014–15 Girlfriends inductees. Fifty-eight third, fourth and fifth grade students were inducted into the Girlfriends Program on Fri., Oct. 3.
The Girlfriends Program was created to inspire confidence, to exemplify leadership and to instill the value of sisterhood in young ladies.
In a beautiful ceremony organized by Bettie Mack, president of Girlfriends at Campbell Park, Nikki Gaskin-Capehart, director of Urban Affairs for the City of St. Petersburg and 22 mentors from Campbell Park Elementary.
The young ladies received certificates and pearl necklaces, which began their journey into Girlfriends. A full meal was provided by Olive Garden and photography by Tara Noble, a Pinellas Technical College student.
This is the start of a new year of mentoring for the girls that will include field trips in the community and support from outstanding women leaders in the community. They will also participate in service learning projects in their neighborhoods.
The young ladies will have their first community presentation Oct. 30 by Raymond James Financial institute to discuss the importance of saving.
