The College Fund of Pinellas County, Inc. $4,800 scholarship application closes June 14 at 5 p.m.
PINELLAS COUNTY — The board of directors for the College Fund of Pinellas County, Inc. is thrilled to announce that applications for its annual scholarship are open.
The nonprofit, volunteer-led organization received a record number of applications in 2022 after transitioning to a completely online application process. The board is always looking for new ways to improve student outcomes.
In 2021, it reduced application requirements in response to the academic hardships faced by students nationwide resulting from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It also approved an increase in the annual assistance per student to $1,200 from the previous $1,000. Students must have a 2.0 college or 2.5 high school GPA to be eligible for the $4,800 in total funds.
“Our College Fund scholarships are now even more valuable because of their flexibility,” said David Rogers, president of the board. “We give the money directly to the students and encourage them to use it as needed – rent, bringing some groceries home, gas money because of longer commuting distances to more affordable housing, etc. Their college educations demand that kind of real-world flexibility.”
Details and an application form are available at collegefundpinellas.org. The deadline for receipt of applications is June 14 at 5 p.m.
