ST. PETERSBURG — Omega Psi Phi Fraternity-Eta Rho Chapter delivered 25 Christmas fruit baskets to the families and loved ones of deceased chapter brothers. There were also baskets delivered to brothers that lost their wives and brothers that are ill.
The Eta Rho Chapter started this tradition in the early 1990s to support, encourage, and maintain communications with the widows of fallen brothers. The chapter’s long-standing committee chair Bro. Joe Chaney spearheaded this yearly event with the help of Publix.
Chaney’s enthusiasm was electrifying as he and the other brothers stood in line for the honor to deliver the beautiful 15-pound baskets to each recipient.
Eta Rho has an active Chaplain team that works in coordination with all the chapter support committees to make sure the widows have at their disposal readily available contact information with the fraternity.
