Tampa Bay Black Art & Film Festival is here!

ST. PETERSBURG — National filmmakers Will Packer and Erica Sutherlin will be honored on the last day of the five-day Tampa Bay Black Art and Film Festival (BAFF) on Feb. 27 at the Sundial AMC in downtown St. Pete at 6:40 p.m.

Coming off an amazing national debut, Sutherlin directed “Kirk Franklin’s A Gospel Christmas” for Lifetime Television and locally the hit stage play “Passover” at Studio@620. Packer’s stellar career has ranked him one of the most prolific producers in Hollywood, and he was recently chosen to produce this year’s Oscars event.

National filmmakers Will Packer and Erica Sutherlin will be honored on the last day of the five-day Tampa Bay Black Art and Film Festival (BAFF) on Feb. 27 at the Sundial AMC in downtown St. Pete at 6:40 p.m.

BAFF is dedicated to recognizing Black talent and showcasing quality visual art and film content created by or starring black people of all shades. The festival takes place every late February to close out Black History Month. It serves as an outlet for Black artists to come together to share their work and enlighten and inspire the creative arts community in and around the Tampa Bay Area and beyond.

Like many other Black festivals around the country, BAFF is dedicated to believing that diverse artists deserve the same opportunities as their mainstream counterparts. BAFF works hard to help do its part to help strengthen the Black entertainment community by fostering resource sharing, education, and artistic collaboration, among many other efforts.

Attendees will be enthralled with the Do-it-Yourself workshops and panel discussions designed to help enhance Black and African-American visual artists’ and filmmakers’ creative works both near and far. Top indie professionals will conduct workshops in and around the Bay area.

Films submitted to the festival are screened by a panel of expert judges and carefully selected to be presented on the big screen at the Sundial AMC, Green Light Cinema, and other highly respected historic screening venues in the city.

Due to COVID-19, safety precautions and restrictions have also been developed for safe live screenings, along with their new online streaming platform that allows a larger audience to view artists’ work.
