Choose Pinellas County Schools in the New Year

BY Michael A. Grego, Ed.D., Superintendent, Pinellas County Schools

PINELLAS COUNTY – Now is the time to discover all the choices Pinellas County Schools has to offer your child from kindergarten through 12th grade. We strive to meet the needs of today’s students by addressing their interests, talents and abilities with a growing list of more than 60 choice programs from gifted studies to performing arts.

This is an exciting time for our school district. Once again, we have expanded opportunities for students by creating new elementary, middle and high school choice programs.

For the 2015-16 school year, we have new international studies programs at Mildred Helms Elementary and Largo Middle School in Largo, as well as John Hopkins Middle School in St. Petersburg.  In St. Petersburg, we have added a new Center for Innovation and Digital Learning at Tyrone Middle School and a new model school for personalized learning for students in grades 6-12 called Lealman Innovation Academy.

We are proud to provide a wide variety of high-quality, academic programs designed to inspire students and provide them with the skills they need to achieve success in college, career and life. Visit www.pcsb.org/choice to explore our choice programs further or contact schools directly to schedule a tour.

Start your child’s education off with a strong foundation with Pinellas County Schools. Beginning Jan. 12, families of children entering kindergarten next year can register their children at elementary schools across the district. To kick off kindergarten registration, Kindergarten Round-up open houses will be held at PCS elementary schools Jan. 12-15. While at the school, families can register for kindergarten, explore a kindergarten classroom, speak with teachers and discuss expectations for the upcoming school year.

Families can also learn about all the great programs available at PCS elementary schools, such as art, music, gifted programs, STEM academies, physical education and other enrichment programs.

Visit www.pcsb.org/KG for Kindergarten Round-up locations and times.

We look forward to your participation during our District Application Period, Jan. 7-16 and our Kindergarten Registration Round-ups Jan.12-15.
