ST. PETERSBURG — Henry Ashwood, Jr. is a St. Petersburg native and straight-ahead jazz performer. Henry eats, sleeps and dreams about entertaining crowds with his soulful sounds. Most times you can find him playing his tenor or soprano saxophone at popular nightclubs, jazz events or even fundraising galas. For over 35 years he has delighted audiences around the Tampa Bay area and surrounding communities.
Many years ago Henry traveled and played in the U.S. Army Band. After an early retirement from the armed forces he attended the University of South Florida, where he studied music theory. After college he began to teach music theory publicly as well as offer private music lessons.
