PETERSBURG — Phase I renovations at Melrose Elementary has been completed and is now being used by students and staff. Phase I included a two-story classroom building with 24 classrooms, seven resource rooms and Physical Education Building. It also included a covered and uncovered play area for students.
Phase II of the project includes demolishing the existing two-story classroom building and replacing it with a two-story building that will house the school’s administration, cafeteria, media center and art and music rooms. Phase II is expected to be completed by March 2020.
In the final phase, the existing administration and cafeteria buildings will be demolished. New visitors and staff parking, as well as a new parent drop-off loop, will be created. The entire $25.6 million projected is expected to be completed in June 2020.
