ST. PETERSBURG –Have you heard? Tiny houses are coming to town. Yes, just like the ones you see on HGTV. Have you watched all those shows and wondered if you could ever live that small? Well, now you have the chance to walk inside them and see for yourself. You’ll also be able to listen to the experts and hear how to do it.
Tiny house popularity is sweeping the nation, and you might ask why? It may have something to do with the availability of affordable housing or it could have something to do with people wishing to have less debt and more time freedom to do the things they want in their lives.
People are starting to recognize that they no longer want to work long hours just to support a roof over their head, especially when you can have a home that costs you less in rent or mortgage payments and lower utility bills. This means you can have more time and money to do the things you love.
The City of St. Petersburg has approved tiny houses in backyards as long as they are built on a foundation and meet code requirements. This can mean a lot to people who have aging parents or college students exiting school with large debt who will welcome a small place to live and be able to become debt free.
Come and visit all the tiny houses that will be available to tour April 7 & 8 at the St. Petersburg College Allstate Campus, 3200 34th St. S. Listen to speakers that can answer your questions about everything you need to know about living tiny or in whatever space you choose.
In addition to 20 Tiny Homes and expert speakers, the St Pete Tiny Home Festival, presented by St. Petersburg College, will feature a curated selection of more than 50 local artists, makers and small businesses.
