ST. PETERSBURG — The Woodson African American Museum of Florida is honored to announce that Executive Director Terri Lipsey Scott has been appointed to the Florida Museum of Black History Task Force by the Florida Senate’s President Kathleen Passidomo upon the recommendation of Senator Darryl Rouson.
The Woodson has dedicated itself to establishing Florida’s first purpose-built Black history museum for more than five years. The prospect of realizing this vision is now within its grasp.
As a pivotal step in this journey, the Department of State is conducting a survey on behalf of the Florida Museum of Black History Task Force.
Key information
The Florida Museum of Black History Task Force, comprising nine appointed members by the governor, speaker of the house and senate president, is tasked with developing comprehensive plans for Florida’s future Black history museum. This includes aspects such as location, design, construction, operation, administration, and marketing.
The task force will also formulate a transition plan to ensure the museum attains financial self-sufficiency. They will also provide recommendations for collections acquisition, exhibits, research and educational materials for integration into Florida schools.
