ST. PETERSBURG – It’s that time of year again. Victory Christian Center presents its annual production of the “Passion” April 1 – 3 at 7 p.m. and April 4 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Last year’s production received rave reviews from the community with over 800 in attendance. This year due to increased demands, they’ve added additional shows. The “Passion” performance, written and directed by Angelia Fletcher Mavros, is a show designed to tug at your emotions.
The objective of the play is to transcend time, taking the audience back by illustrating several of Jesus’ teachings, healings and his crucifixion. It is an interactive play with the cast often engaging the audience.
The role of Jesus Christ is portrayed by Jay C. McClendon who gives a stellar performance. The Victory Christian Center dancers, under the leadership of Dominique Patterson, will make you feel like you’re at Carnegie Hall. Cecil Odom, Charles Clark, John Mavros and Donn Freshler are returning this year in the role of Roman guards guaranteed to raise the hair on the back of your neck. The Honorable Judge Patrice Moore stars in the unforgettable role of Mary Magdalene.
Angelia Fletcher Mavros sent out special invites to Bob Devin Jones of Studio@620 and Dr. Cody Clark of Gibbs High School with high hopes of collaborating with them and taking the production to the professional arena and hopefully one day to an outdoor theatre.
Victory Christian Center is a non-denominational church under the leadership of Pastor Claude S. Williams. The church is located at 3012 18th Ave. S. We invite all to come out and join us for an exciting performance. You will not be disappointed.
