- All Level 1 volunteers are to be supervised at all times.
- All Level 2 volunteers are permitted to be unsupervised with students. Level 2 volunteers must wear their Level 2 badges when on the school campus. See more about Level 2 volunteering below.
- Volunteers will park in designated areas of the school campus.
- Volunteers should be consistently logging their volunteer hours in our Volunteer System. See the section below on steps to access the system and log your hours!
Level 1 (National Background Screening) Completed at no cost to the volunteer and processed by the District Office of Strategic Partnerships. To initiate a Level 1 screening, please complete the online volunteer application.
For questions about your eligibility, please see the Volunteer Eligibility Policy at bit.ly/44PVXvm
When the Level 1 background check has been approved, you will receive an email with your user ID and password to log your volunteer hours into the volunteer system. If you have questions concerning the status of your Level 1 background check, please contact the school’s Family and Community Liaison or School Coordinator, College and Career Readiness.
Please note that due to the volume of applications, processing times for a Level 1 volunteer application to be cleared once submitted is between 10-15 business days.

New volunteers
To become a Pinellas County Schools volunteer, you must first fill out an online New Volunteer Registration application at bit.ly/45cnirp.
PLEASE NOTE: The PCS Volunteer Application is not applicable to Charter Schools. If you are interested in volunteering at a Charter School, please contact the school directly. Do not complete this Volunteer Application.
Additionally, Pinellas County Public Schools does not allow court-ordered community service hours to be served as volunteer time. Individuals who are required to complete court-ordered community service are directed to contact other non-school agencies.
Current or former volunteers
Volunteers are required to reactivate their profiles each school year prior to volunteering. If you are a current or former volunteer, you do not need to complete another volunteer application. To reactivate your profile for the current school year, please click on the link below to access the volunteer system and answer the six screening questions.
Please DO NOT use a mobile device when reactivating. You may also use the link below to update any of our profile information- email address, phone number, etc.
Volunteer System Access/Reactivation
It’s so important for the volunteers to log their hours! Logging and tracking volunteer hours allows for a truer picture of what district and school programs actually cost. Business partners and donors want to know the real value of our programs and underestimate the impact of volunteers undervaluing the program.
Thorough volunteer tracking systems also allow us to gain a better understanding of how much volunteers COST and CONTRIBUTE to the organization. This allows them to define clear current needs and requirements.
Lastly, the community, potential families choosing our schools, and other volunteers take note of the strength of volunteer programs (number of hours) as an indicator of credibility and belief in the school. Please help them by logging your hours!
Please log in to the Volunteer System at focus.pcsb.org/volunteer/.
Please refer to the Volunteer Quick Guide for instructions at bit.ly/3s1awO4.
