Dear Reader: Live Your Life

‘Haircut Inspiration’

Inspired by “Live My Life/Vivir Mi Vida” by Marc Anthony

Dear Reader,

I’m not sure how my words will find you when you read them, but I pray that they find you well and bring you hope and perspective.

For as long as I can remember I have lived my life, but I really haven’t lived my life to the fullest, if you know what I mean.

I’ve done things and have enjoyed the sunlight of days in my past, but I have truly failed in many capacities to live out what it truly means to live.

Sure, I’ve had some good days and some beautiful moments, but I also had some bad ones and some tragedies, too.

There was a place in grief, as I grieved the loss of my mother, that I began to wonder, “What is the point of all the sorrow, and why had I in my life truly known so much of it?”

I’ve wanted to quit, and I’ve even wanted to die. I wanted to give up, and even had to cry. But in my reflection as of late I found myself wanting to live, and as of late I found myself wanting to live this thing called “life to the fullest.”

I’m not as young as I used to be, and I no longer have the capacity of strength that I once had, but I found myself wanting to live, and each day I find myself wanting to do this in an abundant way.

So, Lord, as I walk through this pivotal moment of transition, I pray and ask that you would give me the strength to live. I’m thankful for this “now” perspective, and I also pray that You will continue to help me live my life to the fullest.

Lord, I thank You for the morning dew and the freshness of this space, and I also thank You for new perspective and clarity of Your understanding.

Lord, help me to live my life to the fullest because I only have one life to live.

I will no longer be afraid, for if we only know what it means to live for others, then we will never know what it means to live for ourselves. It’s not selfish. We all just need some time for ourselves.

Dear Reader and Beloved, I too know the hopelessness and friends of despair that would want to cause you to sleep away in the night; but I have new friends now that I’m getting to know, and I’m becoming more and more acquainted with the aspirations of the rising sun.

It is my prayer that you will find hope and its friends, too, and it is also my prayer that you will begin to live life to the fullest, too.

Continue to trust God in your most difficult places, because He will see to it that you make it to the destination of His promises. I want you to know that you are not alone, and it is my prayer that this column will make you feel as though you have a place to belong and somewhere to call home.
