Former Gibbs student serving his country

ST. PETERSBURG — Army Pvt. Dentrayvis Glover has spent the last four months at Ft. Jackson Military Base in Columbia, S. C., where he graduated from both basic training and human resource specialist training. Glover is the son of Dennis and Cokeithia (Dana Ann) Glover.

During the nine weeks of basic training, he first studied the army’s mission, history, tradition and core values.  He also received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, field training, military courtesy and ceremony marching and rifle marksmanship.    Immediately after the June 18 basic training graduation, he began his Advanced Military Training (AIT).

Glover completed his AIT as a Human Resource Specialist last week and the graduation ceremony was held the same day.

Family in attendance included his proud mom, his aunt Betty A. Morrow and his younger sibling Donovon Glover.  He will report to Ft. Drum in Jefferson County in upstate New York where he will perform task similar to a personnel clerk.

Glover will be expected to handle personnel record keeping task relative to soldiers’ identification cards, training assignments, soldier leave request, correspondence and other paperwork.

He is currently on leave and spending time with family and friends before he reports to duty next month. Glover is a 2011 graduate of Gibbs High School of the Arts and is an accomplished artist.  When he is not tending to his military obligation, he draws and paints in his spare time.
