God is Progressive!

BY REV. DORAL PULLEY

“…from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

– II Corinthians 3:18

After God evaluated creation and determined that it was good or very good, God progressed to the next dimension. God’s progression can’t be put into a box and does not always follow the exact same pattern. Depending on what God is creating, progression can mean so many different things. Sometimes God’s progression is enhancing something that was already made. Other times, God’s progression means moving on to create something entirely new and different. God’s progression can also be destroying an old creation and recreating it into something new. Another aspect of God’s progression is getting it to a place where rest is the next rest.

Regardless of the form that progression takes, God is always progressive. God is never stuck. God is never stagnant. God is never static. God is never without a plan. God is always moving on and moving forward to the next.

As we walk in the Spirit and go with the flow of life, we must always be progressive.  We can’t afford to get stuck in the feelings of guilt, shame or condemnation. We must learn from our mistakes and not waddle in them so that we can progress to the next step of our journey. We can’t afford to be stagnant in the process of our holistic growth and development. Anything that is alive is always growing and changing. We can’t afford to be static in the old or keep laying the same foundation repeatedly. At some point, we must build the house.

We can’t afford to be without a plan. As we move forward, God keeps unfolding what the next step is and the Word becomes “a lamp unto our feet and light unto our path (Psalms 119:105).” As we walk in the ordered steps (Psalms 37:23), God gives us a plan and direction for our future.
