St. Petersburg Alumni Kappas welcome new initiates

ST. PETERSBURG – The St. Petersburg Alumni Chapter recently welcomed three new initiates into Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

“These gentlemen bring unique qualities into our organization that 100 percent aligns with our fraternity’s motto of achievement,” said Intake Chair Tyrone Laury.

Marcus Anderson, a native of St. Petersburg, is a proud father and a dedicated family man.  He graduated from Lakewood High School in 2003 and from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology in 2007.

His goal in life is to be an exemplary role model for his daughter and the beautiful community of St. Petersburg.  Anderson is the CEO and Director of Tampa Bay Behavioral Health Centers.  He has owned and operated several local assisted living facilities since 2009.

Andrew Nicholas is originally from Atlanta.  He attended Florida A & M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Cardiopulmonary Science.  He is currently employed by St. Petersburg General Hospital as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, and is very dedicated to helping people and is actively involved in St. Petersburg Alumni’s Kappa League program as a mentor.

Lawrence Williams III was a native of Bradenton and was very active in his community serving as a mentor, counselor and an active member of several organizations including the Sarasota-Manatee Florida A & M University Alumni Association and the NAACP.  He was recently elected to the St. Petersburg Alumni chapter office of Strategus for the 2014-15 fraternal year.

Williams graduated from FAMU in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations. Prior to attending FAMU he proudly served in the United States Army.  He was expected to graduate in the fall of 2014 with a master’s degree from Webster University.

The St. Petersburg Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi was deeply saddened to hear that Brother Lawrence Williams III passed away on July 7 while returning home from Louisiana.  New chapter Polemarch Michael Clarke said, “Brother Williams was excited about what Kappa stood for and what he could do to make our chapter and fraternity better.  He will be missed in body, but never forgotten in spirit.”
