Dr. Maya Angelou
Dear Reader,
I’m not sure how my words will find you when you read them, but I pray that they find you well and bring you hope and perspective.
God loves you, and yes – you can do any good thing and do it well because “this force” (God) that “made leaves and fleas and stars and rivers and you,” loves you. It is an amazing and humbling thing to know how much He loves us, and we are who we are today simply because He loves us.
Her voice, her words, and her wisdom. Dr. Maya Angelou was truly a phenomenal woman, and the life and legacy of her work are still with us today.
As we celebrate Black history, we salute and celebrate her legacy and the embodiment of her work.
In this video, Dr. Angelou is quoted as saying, “God loves me!” She goes on to say, “It still humbles me that this force which made leaves and fleas and…and stars and rivers and…and you, loves me – me Maya Angelou.” Dr. Angelou finishes by saying, “It’s amazing! I can do anything and do it well! Any good thing, I can do it. That’s why I am who I am. Yes, because God loves me, and I’m amazed at it and grateful for it.”
Be inspired, and empowered, Dear Reader, and continue to do everything well, because a life well-lived is a life that is lived well in words, actions, and deeds.
Honor the Lord with your light, and let your life change our world, for, Beloved, how do you know that life isn’t worth living if you haven’t lived but so far?
Dear Reader, continue to trust God even in the most difficult places, because He will see to it that you make it to the destination of His promises. I want you to know that you are not alone, and it is my prayer that this column will make you feel as though you have a place to belong and somewhere to call home.
